What is Counselling and Psychotherapy?

Generally speaking, counsellors are trained to offer non-judgemental support and exploration of issues that present in the here and now. A psychotherapist will offer the same but also look to explore deeper, for underlying causes, to attempt to prevent problems from reoccurring. I look to explore and change thinking, feeling and behaviour, to improve quality of life. See my Testimonials for examples.

Is it Confidential?

I adhere to the BACP Code of Ethics. Anything we discuss remains within the therapy room. There are some exceptions and I always discuss these during the free first intial consultations. See BACP link on the right of this page for more information about the Code of Ethics.

How quickly will it work?

This depends entirely on the personality of the individual and the issue in question. Sometimes change can take years whereas some clients start changing immediately. The more open to learning and accepting new ways of thinking, being and behaving you are, the quicker change will come about.

What sort of issues can I take?

On my home page you will see examples of some issues clients decide to work with. If you are experiencing feelings you are uncomfortable with, difficulty in relationships with others or just wish to get more from life, then you can benefit from psychotherapy and counselling.

If you have any other questions then I will happily discuss them with you via telephone or email. Also, see – www.counselling-cornwall.org.uk
